ARE YOU PREPARING FOR THE LIFE YOU WANT OR ACTUALLY LIVING IT?

A dream life exists within us all. Dream jobs, businesses, relationships, family, health, amazing experiences and all the things that make up a life we want to live. Yet, how many of us are actually living it? I’d say not many.

Why?

Because, we’re busy preparing for that life rather than actually living it. Walk with me on this…

πŸ“š Let’s say for example that you want to be an author with best selling books. Then author. Write. Do THE thing.

πŸ’˜ Perhaps you want to have a closer relationship with your partner. Then relate with your partner. Be with them. Do THE thing.

πŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈβ€βž‘οΈ Maybe you goal is to be more physically fit and healthy. Then be fit and healthy. Move your body, eat the right stuff. Do THE thing.

It sounds so obvious, but we’re not doing it. Why?

Because we’re too busy preparing

What happens is this:

The person who wants to be an author lacks confidence. So, they hire a confidence coach and spend all their time and energy working on themselves, preparing themselves to be a great author.

❌ Meanwhile, their book is left unwritten. They’re not writing. They’re not doing THE thing.

Another person wants a closer relationship with their partner but feels incapable. So they start reading relationship books and taking a course, preparing themselves to be a great partner.

❌ Meanwhile, their partner is left unattended. They’re not relating. They’re not doing THE thing.

Then there’s the person who wants to be more healthy but doesn’t have time. They start looking for fast workouts, food hacks and get busy planning their workout schedule, preparing themselves to get fit and healthy.

❌ Meanwhile, their health continues to deteriorate. They’re not being healthy. They’re not doing THE thing.

How can you expect to live the life you want without doing the very thing that it is made up of. You are not adhering to it’s nature. You are not being, IT. You’re too busy standing on the sidelines, preparing.

Go directly for what you want

I’m not saying that a little bit of learning isn’t good or that confidence isn’t helpful, or that planning isn’t required, but let’s look at this logically:

πŸ€” Do people buy books because the author is confident, or because the writing is good?

πŸ€” Do people build close relationships by taking courses, or by relating with others?

πŸ€” Do people feel fit and healthy by planning to move their body, or by moving their body?

What leads us more directly to the life we want to live? Preparing for it, or doing it?

Writing creates great authors.
Relating creates great relationships.
Moving creates great fitness.

🫡 Go directly for what you want. The path to THE thing, IS THE thing.

Incidentally, the more you do THE thing, the more you learn, the more your confidence builds, the more you find time for it and the better results you get. None of that happens simply through ‘preparation’.

Over to you…

It’s time to do THE thing. What is THE thing that you’re busy preparing for but not actually doing?

Whatever it is, do it! 🎬
